Chapter two does A Cross-Border Critique of Dimensions of Punishment for Rape and Sexual Assaults. This is a comparative exploration of the raison d’étre for punishment for rape and sexual offences, and concludes that the punishment, no matter the severity, has so far failed to curtail rape and sexual offences generally.
Prof. Enefiok Effiong Essien
Enefiok Effiong Essien is a Professor of Law at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He was the Vice Chancellor of the University from 2015 to 2020, and at one time a Visiting Scholar at the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja, where he was the Chairman of the Committee on Degree Mills in Nigeria.
